Hakuba Day 5 - Goryu resort again
By
skijay 25 Feb 2007Today was a play day at our favourite resort so far - Goryu. The snow had stopped falling and it was another bright blue sky day. We headed up to the top of the mountain to do some red (intermediate) slopes first, then headed down that stupid cattrack (Beginners, stay at the bottom of the mountain!) Snow on the bottom green slopes was reasonable, being manmade mixed with yesterday's real snow.
Goryu has a small terrain park which is quite fun - V and James were doing jumps and rails for most of the afternoon. Skijay learned how to ride switch which is going natural instead of goofy (or vice versa for natural riders) which is lots of fun but means lots more stacks!!
After lunch, which was steaming bowls of ramen noodles, we headed up to do a very very steep red slope and Skijay got spooked and couldn't do many turns!! it was a little icy in parts and probably the steepest run I've ever attempted. Well at least I know there is still part of the mountain that I haven't conquered..!!
Apart from the crowds in the morning (which cleared by the afternoon, as the Japanese started to head home) it was a mighty fun day - We all learned how to do something new, and we took lots of video and played around, and rode the lifts right up to the last run.
This would be a really fantastic place to spend some time at, as there's plenty for everyone to do, from beginners (There are some very very flat slopes to learn on) to advanced (That really steep slope, plus the terrain park).
